Jam Petrochemical Company (JPC), one of the world’s largest olefin production complexes, was established in 2000 as part of the development plans of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran. Located in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) in Assaluyeh, JPC was primarily founded to produce olefins as well as linear low-density and high-density polyethylene.

The issue of the Persian gazelle is a matter of serious concern and not limited to any particular generation. If our generation turns a blind eye to it, future generations may never witness the beauty and uniqueness of such wildlife.
The wildlife of Nayband Marine National Park in Asaluyeh is under threat due to its proximity to massive industrial complexes. With the expansion of industrial activities in the region, the ecosystem has been damaged—impacting not only the Persian gazelles but also significantly reducing nesting areas for turtles.
In this situation, who should bear responsibility for the environmental consequences of industrial development?
In October 2023, a joint meeting was held between the CEO of Jam Petrochemical Company and the Director General of the Provincial Department of Environment. During this meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed regarding the stewardship of the Persian gazelle site, focusing on habitat management, restoration and population recovery, and cooperation in habitat optimization in Nayband Marine National Park.
This agreement marked the beginning of Jam Petrochemical Company’s official support for the Persian gazelle.
Today, thanks to JPC’s continued efforts, many concerns have been alleviated, and environmental advocates are hopeful that the gazelle population will reach triple digits in the coming years.
